Contractors in Kerala who failed to repair roads, that are damaged before the guarantee period, will be blacklisted, the Kerala government has said. Ports and Fisheries Minister K Babu asked contractors to repair the roads at the earliest. The minister also directed authorities to complete the rehabilitation of people who have suffered losses in the landslide at Kadvoor near Kothamangalam last year.
In Kerala, officials concerned have proposed to take immediate measures to repair roads along the national highways in Kerala. A proposal to widen the narrow road along the Munnar-Devikulam-Poopara-Bodimedu on NH-49 will be submitted to SS Nahar, chief engineer, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. SS Nahar was in Kerala on a two-day inspection spree and checked the Munnar stretch on June 29 morning.
To repair roads within three weeks in Ernakulam district in Kerala, which were damaged in the recent heavy rains, the State government has decided to provide Rs 76.15 crore, said the State Works Minister VK Ebrahim Kunju on August 19 in Kochi.
