Central Government invite investors in specialty steel to submit proposals

The Central Government has begun accepting applications from investors interested in investing in specialty steel under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for March 29, 2022 by the Centre. On July 2021, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorised a 63.2 billion PLI scheme to enhance specialty steel manufacturing in India, attracting an additional 400 billion in investment and creating 5.25 lakh new jobs. The Government announced the initiative in October 2021, and it was posted on the Ministry of Steel's website.
