The Kerala Government has approved the acquisition of about 13.7 hectare in Thrikkakara for the second phase of its seaport-airport road project. The project requires land from five villages: Thrikkakara North, Aluva East, Thottamukha Thuruth and Chovvara, Chengamanad. The state recently allotted Rs 46.7 crore to the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation for the project. Its second phase will connect Kalamassery HMT junction and Airport VIP Road with a 14.4 km stretch. This is expected to reduce traffic snarls on NH-47 and other roads around the city.
