DAE to set up two nuclear parks

Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) plans to set up two nuclear energy parks in the state at a cost of Rs 150,000 crore. This is a part of its plans to set up a string of five such parks at coastal locations in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. All these nuclear parks will have a generation capacity of about 10,000 MW. The two proposed parks will be in Kovvada in Srikakulam district and Nizamapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The Kovvada Park will have six reactors of 1,400 MW capacity each, which would be set up in phases. Two reactors of 700 MW capacities each will also be set in the Kadapa district.
