The foundation stone was recently laid for National Highway 208 from Kailasahar to Khowai, an 80km long section in Tripura, under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-funded North East Road Network Connectivity Improvement Project Phase 4. NH-208 is being implemented by National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd with financial support by the Government of Japan amounting to JPY 14,926 million (Rs. 982 crore). JICA has supported improving and constructing prioritized national highways totalling 523km through the North East Connectivity Improvement Projects.
