Completed in a record time of 14 months is the Narmada-Kshipira project where the Narmada river's water has been lifted to 350 m. Situated in Ujjaini village of Ujjain district, the project spreads over almost 49 km to Kshipra river in Ujjain and about 15 km from Indore. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan claims that when all the phases of the project are completed, 3,000 villages and 72 towns will get drinking water and water to irrigate 16 lakh acre. The project has three more phases, which will connect river Ganga to three rivers - Gambhir, Kalisindh, Parvati. Moreover, the 'Sangam Sthal' - confluence site - will be developed as a prominent tourist spot. With this the the state of Madhya Pradesh has placed itself finally on the development forefront.
