Kharghar-Turbhe tunnel to save travel time by 30 mins

The Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road (KTLR) project, worth Rs 2,195 crore, was planned by Maharashtra to relieve the severe traffic congestion on the Sion-Panvel highway. It will reduce travel time for drivers from Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai by about 30 minutes.

The state has designated the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) as the nodal organisation to carry out the project, which is anticipated to be finished in three years.

Bypassing the current routes of Sion-Panvel Highway, Thane-Belapur Road, and Palm Beach Road, KTLR will allow drivers from Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai to reach Kharghar directly. KTLR will start at Turbhe and head to Kharghar via Juinagar, cutting through the hills.
