Andhra Pradesh to have 25 work from home townships to help workers

Notwithstanding the plans of IT firms to call their workforce to office, the state government has decided to establish ‘Work from Home Townships’ to help tech workers working from remote areas.

The government has planned to establish 25 townships on a pilot basis and work on enlargement after examining the situation. The government will render space, work stations, high-speed internet and other infrastructure in the planned townships. It was decided on Thursday at the work from home town committee meeting chaired by Industries and IT minister Mekapati Gautham Reddy.

The government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy urged the officials to launch the pilot project within three months. He ordered the officials to take proper steps for rendering security, 24x7 internet, privacy and other amenities in the proposed areas.

IT advisor Srinatha Reddy made a power-point presentation about the benefits of establishing work from home townships.

He explained that APSSDC had already recognised suitable buildings to take them on lease.
