Anuradha Prasad Appointed Member of Union Public Service Commission


Ms. Anuradha Prasad, former Secretary to the Government of India, has officially assumed charge as Member of the Union Public Service Commission. The oath was administered by Lieutenant General Raj Shukla (Retired), the seniormost Member of the Commission.

A graduate of Lady Sriram College and holder of a Masters in History from the University of Delhi, she also earned a Masters in Development Administration from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Ms. Prasad is a 1986-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service with over 37 years of experience in public administration.

She has held key roles across the Ministries of Defence, Finance, Food Processing Industries, Labour & Employment, and Home Affairs. Her work spans defence acquisitions, financial oversight, and development of cold chain and food testing infrastructure. She has also served on regulatory bodies such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the National Council for Vocational Education & Training.

She was instrumental in the creation of the e-Shram Portal and led the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Post-retirement, she served with the Police Complaints Authority, Government of NCT Delhi.
