BMC Unveils Record Rs 744.27 Billion Budget for 2025-26


The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s wealthiest civic body, has presented its highest-ever budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, amounting to Rs 744.27 billion. The budget, which reflects a 14.19% increase from the Rs 651.8 billion allocated in 2024-25, was presented by additional municipal commissioners to BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani at the civic headquarters.

For the third consecutive year, the budget was presented to an administrator instead of a standing committee, following the end of corporators' terms on March 7, 2022.

The initial revenue estimate for 2024-25 was Rs 357.49 billion, later revised to Rs 406.93 billion, marking a 13.83% increase. As of December 31, 2024, the BMC had collected Rs 283.08 billion in revenue. The projected revenue income for 2025-26 is Rs 431.59 billion, reflecting a 20.73% rise from the revised estimate of 2024-25.
