CAQM Reviews GRAP, Urges Strict Action
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in Delhi has reviewed the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), a set of measures aimed at curbing air pollution during adverse conditions. Following the review, the commission emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the action plan and urged authorities to take stringent measures against violators to improve the air quality.
The CAQM highlighted the increasing air pollution levels in the capital, particularly during the winter months, and stressed the importance of preventive measures. It also called for better monitoring and compliance with the GRAP guidelines, which range from actions such as restrictions on construction activities to enforcing limits on vehicular emissions.
In addition to enforcement, the commission has asked authorities to enhance public awareness and promote the use of cleaner technologies to tackle pollution. This review aligns with the broader efforts of the government to improve air quality and mitigate the health impacts caused by hazardous pollution levels in Delhi.
