Centre Pledges Full Support for Andhra Pradesh’s Biotechnology Growth


Andhra Pradesh’s Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar met with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh in the national capital, seeking enhanced collaboration between the state and the Centre to accelerate biotechnology-driven advancements.

Strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s Biotechnology Ecosystem During the meeting, both leaders discussed strategies to scale up biotech projects and integrate cutting-edge innovations into healthcare and industrial applications. Expressing gratitude to the Modi government, Satya Kumar underscored Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging biotechnology for medical research, sustainable startups, and industry growth.

Dr. Jitendra Singh assured full central support, highlighting biotechnology as a priority sector under the government’s vision. He emphasised its transformative potential in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and agritech, reaffirming Andhra Pradesh’s role as a key player in India’s biotech landscape.

Andhra Pradesh’s Rising Biotech Hub The state has made significant strides in biopharmaceutical research, marine biotechnology, and agricultural biotech solutions. It is home to leading biotech incubators and research institutions, driving innovation and fostering industry partnerships.

Dr. Singh acknowledged the success of initiatives like BIRAC funding and national biotech missions, which have bolstered Andhra Pradesh’s startup ecosystem and industry collaborations. The renewed focus on state-centre synergy aims to further align Andhra Pradesh with India’s broader biotech roadmap.

As India intensifies its push for biotech self-reliance and global leadership in research, this dialogue signals a fresh impetus to Centre-State cooperation, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s growing stature in the biotechnology sector.
