Coastal Road-Bandra-Worli Sea Link Two-Lane Connection Opens July 11

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link journey is finally set to begin as the municipal administration has announced the opening of two lanes each way starting from July 11 at Thadani Junction.

According to municipal authorities, a significant 91.58 per cent of the coastal road project has already been completed. However, they clarified that not all lanes of the sea link can be opened yet due to remaining work on the northern side.

Progress on the Coastal Road project has been accelerating, with the installation of the bow string arch girder now finished. The Coastal Road (South) Project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in South Mumbai, promising time savings of around 70 per cent and fuel savings of 34 per cent. Moreover, it is expected to contribute to the reduction of both noise and air pollution.

Last month, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed the BMC to open one arm of the sea link connector by the end of July.
