CSIR-IMMT Signs Declarations with Russian Institutes for Mineral R&D


The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), through its minerals research institute CSIR-IMMT, has signed two Joint Declarations of Intent with leading Russian institutions to enhance cooperation in critical mineral processing and sustainable resource development.

Separate agreements were signed by Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, with Dr. Andrei I. Golinei of JSC Giredmet, part of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, and Dr. Michael R. Filonov of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Moscow. The collaboration is coordinated by Dr. Kali Sanjay of CSIR-IMMT, alongside Russian counterparts Dr. Konstantin V. Ivanovskikh and Dr. Korotchenko Natalia.

Anoop Kumar Srivastava, Counsellor (Space) at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, supported the agreements. The CSIR-IMMT team also met His Excellency Vinay Kumar, Ambassador of India to Russia, on twenty-fourth April 2025, briefing him on the significance of technological cooperation in process metallurgy and the focus on critical minerals for Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat initiatives.

These collaborations are expected to strengthen research and development efforts and foster innovation in critical mineral technologies vital for future growth.
