DPIIT, Häfele India join hands to back local manufacturing

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed an MoU with Häfele India to foster innovation and strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem. The partnership aims to empower product startups, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs through investments, technical support, and global market access.

Häfele will support Indian startups and MSMEs by facilitating supplier development, infrastructure access, and integration into global value chains. It has already invested over USD 2.5 million in a domestic appliance startup and placed purchase orders with Indian MSME manufacturers of furniture fittings and hardware.

DPIIT will provide Startup India ecosystem access, enable programme linkages and support co-branded initiatives to amplify the partnership’s impact. The MoU, valid for two years, may be extended by mutual agreement.

“This collaboration reflects our vision to enable industry-led innovation in manufacturing,” said Dr Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director, DPIIT. Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv highlighted the partnership’s alignment with the Make in India mission, while Häfele South Asia MD Frank Schloeder reiterated the company’s commitment to an ‘India for India’ and ‘India for the World’ approach.
