Eisai Pharma To Set Up Global Tech Hub in Visakhapatnam


Eisai Pharma, a global healthcare company, has announced plans to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, strengthening its digital innovation footprint in India. The announcement was made by Makoto Hoketsu, Global CIO of Eisai, during a visit to GITAM Deemed to be University on Wednesday.

Hoketsu emphasised the company’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation with strong support from the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ). He added that the new centre would bring together India’s top digital talent to develop pioneering solutions that address evolving healthcare challenges.

Hoketsu praised GITAM’s academic infrastructure, focus on emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary research environment, expressing interest in collaborative research and innovation partnerships.

M Sribharat, MP and President of GITAM, welcomed the initiative, highlighting the institution’s push for industry-linked research in data science, healthcare tech, and pharmaceuticals.

Senior officials from GITAM including Secretary M Bharadwaja, Vice-Chancellor Dr Eroll D’Souza, and others were present during the interaction. The collaboration is expected to further integrate academic expertise with global healthcare innovation.
