First 1320 MW Khurja STPP Unit Starts Supplying Power to Grid

THDC India (THDCIL), a Mini-Ratna Public Sector Enterprise, has achieved a milestone with the commencement of operations of Unit#1 of its 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant (KSTPP). The 660 MW unit became operational at midnight on January 25, 2025, following successful synchronization with the grid, full-load testing at 660 MW, and a 72-hour trial run.

The Khurja STPP will supply electricity to Uttar Pradesh (64.7 per cent), Rajasthan (21.3 per cent), Uttarakhand (3.9 per cent), and unallocated regions (10.1 per cent). The plant is equipped with a Flue Gas De-sulphurization (FGD) system to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO?) emissions, reflecting its commitment to environmental sustainability.

THDCIL is also progressing on other significant projects, including the 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant and the 444 MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP). Senior officials, including project heads, were present during the operational milestone. News source: ET Energy
