Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 10 national highway and infrastructure projects worth Rs 58 billion at a public event in Dhar district. These projects aim to improve the state’s road network and enhance connectivity across various regions.
Gadkari highlighted the state's rapid progress under the "double-engine government" and set a goal of making Madhya Pradesh’s national highway network surpass that of the United States within three years. He also revealed plans for road infrastructure projects worth Rs 3 trillion to be completed nationwide in the coming year. In response to a request from CM Yadav, Gadkari approved six new highway projects spanning 400 km, valued at Rs 120 billion, under the Central Road Fund. Additionally, Rs 330 billion worth of infrastructure works, including greenfield corridors, ring roads, elevated corridors, and bridges, were announced.
Gadkari emphasised that improved road connectivity would facilitate better access to education, employment, and healthcare, particularly in rural areas, driving economic growth and poverty reduction. CM Yadav stated that the new projects would contribute significantly to the preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028 in the Malwa region. He expressed his gratitude to Gadkari, recognizing him as the “Architect of India’s Highway Revolution” and reiterated his commitment to expanding road networks to foster both urban and rural development.
The event saw the inauguration of key projects, including the four-lane Ujjain-Badnawar road, segments of the Ujjain-Garoth Greenfield Highway, and the Jeerapur-Susner-Rajasthan border road, along with vital flyovers in Indore and Shajapur. Yadav also proposed linking the Jyotirlingas of Mahakaleshwar, Somnath, and Omkareshwar through a spiritual highway corridor. Other dignitaries included Union Minister of State Savitri Thakur and MP Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.
