Gujarat Approves Rs12.4 Billion for Statewide Road Upgrades
In a significant boost to Gujarat’s road infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved Rs 12.42 billion for extensive resurfacing and ancillary road development projects across the state. The move aims to enhance connectivity for citizens, businesses, and industries by targeting areas with urgent transportation needs.
Out of the total allocation, Rs 9.75 billion has been earmarked for the resurfacing of 118 roads, spanning a cumulative distance of 735 kilometers. The Roads and Buildings Department will lead these efforts across all districts, with a focus on improving connectivity between remote villages, taluka headquarters, and major road networks.
A special allocation of Rs 2.67 billion has been sanctioned for targeted development in two critical regions—Kadi taluka in Mehsana district and the Deshlpar–Hajipir area in Kutch.
In Kadi, Rs1.71 billion will fund four key road improvement projects, including Rs 270 million for strengthening and converting roads such as Dangarwa–Karjisan and Kadi–Jaslpur–Mokasan–Suraj into concrete (CC) roads. Given the high traffic on the Bhalti–Dharampur–Khawad and Kadi–Nani Kadi–Bavdu–Chandrasan–Khodano Dhal roads, Rs1.44 billion has been sanctioned to widen them to 7 and 10 meters respectively.
In Kutch, Rs 950 million will be used to convert the 32-kilometer Deshlpar–Hajipir State Highway into a concrete road, considering the heavy vehicular movement and its importance as a connector to the Hajipir pilgrimage site and North Gujarat.
The overall project spans state highways, major district roads, and vital rural roads, aiming to accelerate development in both urban and rural zones while easing industrial transport routes and boosting access to pilgrimage sites.
