On August 6, 2024, Harish Dudani was officially sworn in as a member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), marking a significant appointment in the energy sector. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by the Minister for Power.

CERC, established under the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998 and later governed by the Electricity Act, 2003, plays a crucial role in regulating India's electricity industry. The CERC?s duties also include adjudicating disputes and promoting competition, efficiency, and investment within the electricity sector.

Prior to joining CERC, Dudani held various judicial positions, including Principal Judge at the Family Court and District Judge at the Commercial Court in the High Court of Delhi. He also served as Additional Session Judge and Special Judge for the Prevention of Corruption Act cases with the Central Bureau of Investigation. His extensive judicial experience is expected to enhance CERC's decision-making and policy development in the energy sector.
