Haryana's Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, announced that every village in the state has now achieved the status of being "Lal Dora-free." The initiative to eliminate the "Lal Dora" designation was launched by the state government in 2019 to provide clear property ownership rights in rural areas.

Through the Pradhan Mantri SVAMITVA Yojana, drones were employed to map land parcels and legal ownership cards were issued to rural homeowners. Over 2.5 million property cards have been finalised in 6,260 villages, with more than 2.4 million cards handed over to owners. Notably, 0.462 million properties across 3,613 villages have been registered.

Lal Dora areas, equivalent to "Abadi" in some regions, posed challenges in terms of revenue records and ownership disputes. Khattar noted that this initiative aimed to address such issues, ensuring correct land and property records within the Lal Dora areas.

By achieving this milestone, Haryana aims to provide villagers with clear property ownership rights, enabling them to utilise their assets for financial purposes such as obtaining bank loans. The initiative stands as a significant step toward enhancing rural property rights and overall governance.
