India to Attend BRICS Agriculture Meet in Brazil, Focus on Bilateral Ties


Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead India’s delegation to the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Meeting, scheduled for 17 April 2025 in Brasilia, Brazil. The theme of the meeting is “Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperation, Innovation, and Equitable Trade among BRICS Countries.” The event will be attended by ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran.

During the visit, Shri Chouhan will hold bilateral meetings with Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro and Minister of Agrarian Development Luiz Teixeira to strengthen cooperation in agri-technology, rural development, and food security. In São Paulo, he will engage with agribusiness leaders and the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries to explore investment and value chain collaboration.

The Minister will also take part in a tree plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative and interact with the Indian diaspora to recognise their role in deepening bilateral ties. This visit underscores India’s commitment to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agriculture through South-South cooperation.
