The sensor module market in India, valued at Rs 200 billion, is projected to reach Rs 310 billion by 2027. The ECoE will initially focus on industrial sensors, utilising advanced technologies like Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS), Nano-electromechanical Systems (NEMS), and various analog and digital sensors. It plans to expand into other verticals, leveraging cutting-edge semiconductor innovations.

IESA President Ashok Chandak emphasised the importance of this initiative for reducing imports and fostering India’s ambitions as a "Product Nation." ELCIA President Sriram Kumar V highlighted the collaboration's role in mapping academia to industry and creating a sustainable ecosystem.

Dr V Veerappan, Chairman, IESA, remarked that the partnership would enhance India’s sensor ecosystem, promoting R&D, job creation, and technological innovation. Together, IESA and ELCIA aim to position India as a global hub for sensor manufacturing, catering to domestic and international markets while supporting the growth of the country's electronics and semiconductor sectors.
