India’s Path to Global Leadership in Construction


Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, addressed CAPEXIL’s Vibrant Buildcon 2025, urging industry stakeholders to prioritise sustainability, reduce import dependency, and promote clean, green, and earthquake-resistant construction practices. The Minister emphasised India’s growing strength in sectors like housing, infrastructure, and commercial real estate. He acknowledged the government's efforts in driving infrastructure development, citing examples such as Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi convention centers, which were constructed during the pandemic and hosted global events like the G20 Summit.

Shri Goyal underscored the importance of several key initiatives, including the establishment of smart industrial cities, enhanced tourism infrastructure, and plug-and-play industrial hubs. He stressed that these efforts are crucial for India's goal of becoming a $30-35 trillion economy by 2047. The Minister also highlighted the role of farmers in ensuring food security during the pandemic and the significant transformation occurring in India’s construction ecosystem.

Concluding, Shri Goyal called for innovation and fair wages, reaffirming India’s potential to emerge as a global superpower, leading in growth, infrastructure, and inclusive development.
