Kempegowda Layout Still in the Dark
Residents of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout have raised concerns over the absence of proper electricity connections, nearly a decade after the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) allotted sites in the area.
The BDA had initially promised an underground electricity network, but site owners say that many roads still lack this infrastructure. "Despite multiple appeals, the power supply remains inadequate. Residents are forced to bear extra costs to connect to Bescom’s supply points in distant villages or private layouts through overhead cables," the residents’ forum stated.
Adding to the woes, the layout lacks streetlights, and poor coordination between BDA and Bescom has worsened the situation. Of the five planned substations, only one in Kommaghatta is under construction, leading to major supply gaps.
Residents are demanding a plug-and-play electricity system, faster completion of the underground network, and a simplified connection process. They urge authorities to resolve these long-pending issues for a livable environment in the layout.
