Kota to build new airport for tourism boost and domestic connectivity
In a move to enhance tourism and regional connectivity, a new airport is set to be constructed in Kota. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Civil Aviation Authority of India, and the Urban Development Department have signed an agreement for the project. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that the state government will provide land for the airport construction free of charge. He added that the new Kota Airport will also benefit the lakhs of residents in the Hadoti region.
The AAI will manage the construction, operation, and development of the airport. Chief Minister Sharma has directed the Kota Development Authority to submit a detailed development plan for the areas surrounding the proposed airport. A detailed project is currently being prepared, and tenders for the airport will be invited soon.
In addition to the new airport in Kota, Chief Minister Sharma has urged the AAI to expedite the development of a new state terminal at Jaipur Airport. He also announced the allocation of free land for enhancements at Udaipur Airport, the approach road at Uttarlai (Barmer) Airport, and the development of a civil enclave.
The development of Kota Airport will address a long-standing demand for air facilities in the city, significantly benefiting students and tourists.
