LDA Acquires 12 Hectares for Mohan Road Edu City

In the last three days, 15 farmers have signed agreements with the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and handed over possession of their land, leading to the acquisition of more than 12 hectares for the Mohan Road scheme, also known as Edu City.

The agreements were signed following a consensual process initiated 15 days ago by an LDA committee led by Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar in Pyarepur village. Previously, 785 acres were acquired in Pyarepur and Kaliyakheda for the project, but compensation disputes arose. Recently, the LDA board approved increased compensation for Pyarepur farmers.

LDA officials have set up a camp in Pyarepur to negotiate terms with farmers, and development work on infrastructure like roads, sewers, water supply, electrification, and drainage will start soon on the acquired land. A ₹2.25 billion tender has been issued for the first phase of development. The Edu City will feature 74 acres reserved for educational institutions and 160 acres for green belts, modeled after Panchkula-Chandigarh.
