Liebherr Delivers New 440 HC-L Crane to Dublin Site
Liebherr has delivered its first 440 HC-L luffing jib crane in Ireland to John Paul Construction for the Donore Project, a major residential development in Dublin. Distributed by Armorum Ltd., Liebherr’s official partner in Ireland, the crane brings cutting-edge lifting technology to the heart of the city, supporting the delivery of urgently needed housing.
The 440 HC-L is designed for large-scale urban construction projects, offering a blend of high load capacity, compact design, and advanced control systems. It boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 24 tonnes and can handle up to 3.9 tonnes at a 65-metre jib length, making it well-suited for tight, complex job sites.
This marks a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between Liebherr and John Paul Construction, which has relied on Liebherr cranes for over five decades. Six Liebherr tower cranes, including the newly delivered 440 HC-L, will be used throughout the Donore Project.
Key technological features include the EMS-4 control system, a 12-inch Tower Crane Operating System (TC-OS) display, and a newly designed counter-jib. These innovations improve precision, safety, and operator efficiency. Additional tools such as Load-Plus, Micromove, and electric wind release make daily operations safer and more reliable.
The Donore Project, situated on the site of the former St. Teresa’s Gardens in Dublin’s south inner city, is a flagship urban renewal initiative. It will provide 542 new homes, including 389 cost-rental and 153 social housing units, along with new public spaces and essential infrastructure. This is part of a collaboration between the Land Development Agency (LDA) and Dublin City Council (DCC) to meet the city’s housing demands.
John Paul Construction, one of Ireland’s leading building firms, continues to trust Liebherr’s innovation and support as it undertakes complex domestic and international projects. The use of the 440 HC-L crane highlights the company’s commitment to adopting high-performance, future-ready equipment.
