Before taking on the position of DGBR, General Srinivasan held the position of Commandant at the College of Military Engineering in Pune, as confirmed in an official statement. In his message to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel upon assuming the role, Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan commended their unwavering dedication and hard work in constructing and maintaining critical roads and infrastructure, often in challenging and inhospitable conditions.

He urged them to continue demonstrating their commitment, resilience, and professionalism in their mission to connect remote areas, facilitating both border security for the Armed Forces and the socioeconomic development of remote regions.

Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan is a graduate of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in 1987 and has participated in significant military operations, including Operation Vijay, Operation Rakshak, and Operation Parakram. His extensive service includes assignments in border areas, particularly Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. General Srinivasan has held numerous key command and staff positions throughout his career and has completed courses at the Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command, and National Defence College.
