Maharashtra Clears Revised Terms for Kurla Plot
The Maharashtra government has approved revised terms and conditions for the utilisation of an 8.5-hectare Mother Dairy plot in Kurla, aimed at rehabilitating ineligible slum dwellers from Dharavi. The plan includes the construction of key community amenities such as a school, hospital, and shopping complex on the site.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. The land, located in suburban Kurla, had earlier been transferred to the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) through a Government Resolution (GR) issued in June last year. The move is part of the broader redevelopment of Dharavi, India's largest slum cluster.
The revised terms ensure that the plot not only accommodates housing but also provides essential infrastructure to improve living standards for the relocated residents.
