MHADA to Build 800,000 Houses in Five Years: DyCM Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Housing & Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will construct 800,000 houses across the state over the next five years.

Speaking at a lottery event for 2,147 houses and 117 plots in the Konkan division, Shinde highlighted the growing public trust in MHADA’s transparent lottery system, noting that over 31,000 applicants participated in the current draw.

He also emphasised the significance of cluster development projects in creating well-planned urban spaces. A ground-breaking ceremony for several such projects is scheduled for February 9 in Thane.

Shinde further stated that the construction quality of MHADA homes has improved significantly and assured that the state’s new housing policy will include provisions for textile mill workers and Mumbai’s renowned 'dabbawalas,' ensuring they have access to affordable housing.
