MMRDA Deepens Korea Ties to Drive Mumbai 3.0 Urban Innovation Vision

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has advanced its Mumbai 3.0 vision by strengthening collaboration with the Republic of Korea, as part of a high-level engagement during the India Global Forum 2025.

At the Jio World Centre, MMRDA officials, led by Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, met with a Korean delegation of policy, academic and business leaders to expand cooperation in smart city development, infrastructure modernisation, green mobility, and foreign direct investment.

The visiting delegation included Sang-ho Lee, Director of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority; Byeong-il Woo from KOTRA Mumbai; and senior officials from Seoul National University, World Smart Cities Forum (WSCF), and Kanavi Mobility.

The partnership builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year between MMRDA and WSCF, under which Mumbai joined the Global Twin Cities Platform.

Plans were discussed to replicate Incheon’s transformation into a USD one hundred Bn smart economy and to introduce Korean innovations in artificial intelligence-based urban management, fintech, smart housing and sustainable transport.

Upcoming projects under Mumbai 3.0 include smart transit-oriented zones, mixed-use developments, data centres, fintech hubs, and affordable housing.
