The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has revised the alignment of the Pune Ring Road near Kasar Amboli village, resulting in a projected cost saving of approximately Rs 8 billion. This decision was made to avoid the demolition of over 300 residential units, which would have necessitated significant compensation payouts.

The original route of the Pune Ring Road intersected a substantial housing project in Kasar Amboli. Residents of this development demanded compensation amounts up to four times the market value of their properties, leading to potential expenses nearing Rs 8 billion. To circumvent these costs and potential legal challenges, MSRDC proposed an alternative alignment that bypasses the residential area.

This realignment is part of the broader 138 km Pune Ring Road project, designed to enhance connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The project is divided into two phases: the eastern segment spans 74.08 km from Urse to Shivare, while the western segment covers 64.45 km, connecting Shivare back to Urse. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 158.57 billion.

MSRDC aims to complete land acquisition by March 2025, with full operations scheduled to commence by September 2027. The revised alignment near Kasar Amboli is expected to facilitate smoother progress by minimizing legal disputes and reducing financial burdens.
