NCRTC to plant 25+ lakh trees along RRTS route
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is engaged in the planting of over 25 lakh trees along the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, extending from Sahibabad to Shatabdi Nagar in Meerut. The initiative, as per the statement, aims to establish an eco-friendly and visually appealing environment, in accordance with global objectives concerning environmental preservation and sustainability.
The endeavour, geared towards promoting environmental sustainability, encompasses various locations including the corridor area, the median between roads, as well as stations and depots. As stated in the announcement, the project is delineated into two primary segments: the median beneath the viaduct spanning the 48 km RRTS corridor from Sahibabad to Shatabdi Nagar, where more than 95% of the planting work has been completed, and the RRTS Depot situated in Duhai.
The plant varieties being introduced in the median from Duhai to Shatabdi Nagar comprise bougainvillea, tecoma, plumeria alba, allamanda, mansoa, jasmine, and madhumalati, all renowned for their vibrant blossoms. The statement further mentions that tree planting will commence once the construction of the corridor from Shatabdi Nagar to Modipuram is finalized.
The stretch from Duhai (EPE) to Shatabdi Nagar encompasses seven stations?Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modi Nagar North, Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, and Shatabdi Nagar.
