In a significant move to enhance rail travel in Bihar, Indian Railways has announced the introduction of a new Namo Bharat Rapid Train that will operate between Gaya and Ayodhya. This new service aims to connect two prominent cities known for their religious and cultural significance. While Gaya holds importance for Buddhists, Ayodhya is renowned for the grand Ram temple. The train is expected to facilitate easier travel for tourists and pilgrims between these destinations.

This service forms part of a larger initiative to strengthen rapid rail connectivity within Bihar. It will complement the existing Namo Bharat train running between Jaynagar and Patna. The upcoming route from Gaya to Ayodhya will pass through key cities such as Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni, and Mokama, enhancing access and transportation across the region and simplifying travel for many residents.

Local organizations and citizens have welcomed the announcement enthusiastically. DK Jain, President of the Grand Card Passenger Association, stated that the new train was the outcome of numerous public appeals. He mentioned that people in Gaya and surrounding districts had been requesting improved train services for a long time. Jain added that this new route would connect three mythological cities—Gaya, Varanasi, and Ayodhya—and was expected to boost religious tourism significantly.

The Namo Bharat Rapid Train is planned to operate six days a week, departing Gaya Junction at 5 am and arriving in Ayodhya by 11 am. The return journey will commence at 5 pm from Ayodhya, reaching Gaya by 11 pm. This timing is designed to facilitate convenient day trips between the two cities. The train will halt at several important junctions including Rafiganj, Sasaram, DD Upadhyay Junction, Kashi, Varanasi Junction, Jaunpur Junction, Shahganj, Akbarpur, and Gosaiganj.

The train will feature unreserved air-conditioned coaches, with tickets priced around Rs 500. This affordable fare is expected to make travel accessible to a broad range of passengers, including pilgrims and tourists.

The launch of this train service is anticipated to not only encourage tourism but also strengthen the local economy by facilitating easier travel. The Railways have plans to introduce more such trains to further enhance regional connectivity. Being the second Namo Bharat train in Bihar, this initiative underscores Indian Railways' commitment to developing a superior travel network.
