In the recent event, Nitin Gadkari laid out the foundation stone for 25 national highway projects planned for Jammu & Kashmir. During the event, Nitin Gadkari emphasized that the road infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir would be revamped to meet European standards in the upcoming years. He also asserted that Indian roads overall would become as good as those in the USA. According to him, these new highways and tunnels would accelerate development and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, highways in other states would undergo refurbishment to reduce travel time between major cities. Gadkari stressed that good roads and transportation are essential for development, hence the government's focus on improving motorways in India.
Regarding significant projects across India, many major highway projects are underway. Among them, the 1047km Ganga expressway is being constructed in Uttar Pradesh, which will run parallel to the Ganga river, connecting numerous major cities in UP. The Mumbai Nagpur expressway is another notable project, along with the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, connecting the two largest cities in India, spanning a total length of 1,350km. The cumulative length of expressways under construction amounts to 10,647.524 km. Additionally, there are several proposed or planned expressways where construction is set to begin soon.
