Noapara-Airport Metro in Kolkata Completes First Trial Run Successfully


The first trial run between Noapara and Jai Hind Biman Bandar (airport) metro stations in Kolkata's northern outskirts was conducted, marking progress toward commissioning the service on this stretch later this year. The trial run covered the 7.04 km Noapara-Jai Hind Biman Bandar stretch of the Yellow Line, beginning from Noapara at 12:09 pm.

The Metro Railway Kolkata General Manager, P. Uday Kumar Reddy, was present during the trial. On its way to Jai Hind Biman Bandar Metro station, the train stopped at Dum Dum Cantonment station for inspection. The trial rake reached Jai Hind Biman Bandar Metro station at 12:31 pm.

During the return journey, the train departed from Jai Hind Biman Bandar Metro station at 1:57 pm and arrived at Noapara Metro station at 2:21 pm.

The route includes four stations: Noapara, Dum Dum Cantonment, Jessore Road, and Jai Hind Biman Bandar. Spanning 7.03 km, the route comprises 1.8 km of underground track and 5.23 km on a viaduct. News source: ET Infra
