Otis India Wins Elevator Contract for Patna Metro Infrastructure
Otis India has been awarded a major contract to supply, install, and maintain 65 Gen2 Nova elevators for the Patna Metro project—marking a significant stride in Bihar’s infrastructure development and urban mobility transformation.
The elevators, to be manufactured at Otis' Bengaluru facility, are equipped with features that enhance accessibility for individuals with reduced mobility. This aligns with the Patna Metro’s emphasis on creating a modern and inclusive public transport system.
The Patna Metro, the first of its kind in Bihar, comprises two lines and 26 stations stretching across nearly 30 kilometres. It forms a crucial part of the Indian government’s nationwide infrastructure initiative to upgrade urban transport systems—including metro, airport, and railway networks—under a long-term development strategy.
Otis’ role in the project underscores the success of the government’s “Make in India” initiative. By designing and manufacturing the Gen2 Nova elevators domestically, the company not only supports Indian industry and employment but also brings world-class vertical mobility solutions to one of the country’s emerging metro networks.
Renowned for their energy efficiency and compact design, the Gen2 Nova elevators will contribute significantly to passenger movement and convenience across the Patna Metro network, which is expected to serve as a transformative model for public transport in Bihar
