The Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane highway in Bihar is nearing completion and expected to be inaugurated soon. Once operational, the 127-kilometre route will reduce the travel time from Patna to Gaya to just ninety minutes.

The Rs 50 billion infrastructure project spans Patna, Jehanabad and Gaya districts. Built in phases in collaboration with Japanese companies, it includes five road overbridges (ROBs), twenty underpasses, four flyovers and eight bypasses. The road starts at Saristabad in Patna and passes through Nathupur, Punpun, Masaurhi, Jehanabad, Makhdumpur and the Gaya bypass before ending at Dobhi.

According to Minister for Road Construction Nitin Navin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the highway during his next visit to the state. The route is also expected to ease access to Jharkhand and spur economic activity across the region.

Initially proposed in 2010–11, the project faced delays due to land acquisition and tendering issues. It will now link key roads including the Patna-Ara-Buxar National Highway, Bihta-Sarmera State Highway, Gaya-Bihar Sharif Road and the Golden Quadrilateral, enhancing inter-state connectivity.
