PM Inaugurates Rs 47.6 Billion Projects in Kanpur

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 47.6 billion in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. These include metro expansion, thermal power plants, expressways, and defence corridor infrastructure.

Addressing the public, he honoured the late Shri Shubham Dwivedi and highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor. He stated that India will strike back at terrorism with force, regardless of nuclear threats, and will not differentiate between terror groups and their host governments.

He emphasised India’s defence self-sufficiency, with homegrown missiles like BrahMos playing a key role. The production of AK-203 rifles in Amethi and the new defence corridor in Uttar Pradesh signal India’s progress under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Several power projects were inaugurated, including 660 MW units in Panki, Neyveli, Jawaharpur, Obra-C, and Khurja. Metro connectivity now extends to Kanpur Central with the Orange Line. An elevated rail corridor worth Rs one billion will ease traffic in the Farrukhabad–Anwarganj section.

He also announced road improvements, a 40 MLD sewage treatment plant, and industrial connectivity projects. MSMEs and leather industries will benefit from credit schemes, tax reforms, and the One District, One Product initiative.
