Railways Adds Liquid Soap in Sleeper Coaches Nationwide

Indian Railways has introduced a new hygiene initiative by installing liquid handwash dispensers in all non-air‑conditioned (sleeper) reserved coaches that feature onboard housekeeping service (OBHS). Until now, such facilities were provided solely in air-conditioned coaches.

Dispenser units will be placed near washbasins and in coach corridors. Staff will ensure the dispensers are refilled before departure, with replacements available en route if supplies run out. This upgrade is part of a broader effort to raise hygiene standards across long-distance trains and make travel safer and more convenient for passengers.

With vending now available in sleeper class, every passenger receives access to handwashing—a simple but impactful step up from prior arrangements. This move complements other onboard amenities and reinforces the commitment to cleaner, more passenger-friendly travel.
