During an interaction meeting, KASSIA submitted a memorandum to the Managing Director of Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), Mahantesh Bilagi. KASSIA President MG Rajagopal highlighted that despite the government's decision to increase the LT limit for industries from 67 HP to 201 HP, Bescom officers still lack proper guidelines.

Rajagopal pointed out that Bescom engineers often insist on installing infrastructure such as transformers, cubicles, and cables similar to those required for HT connections, which seems to undermine the purpose of raising the limit for those in need. He noted that industries are paying higher rates to Bescom compared to other categories, except commercial ones, and that additional supply to industries is profitable for Bescom. He also mentioned that industries are paying at least 20 per cent more than the average power cost and requested clarification on this issue, suggesting that suitable orders be issued. Additionally, he requested that the Inspection Wings record the entire inspection process on video, as there have been instances where industries with facilities like warehouses and offices in adjacent sheds were treated as commercial, leading to penalties from the Inspection Department.

KASSIA Energy Panel Chairman Syed Mahaboob Hussain added that Bescom needs to simplify the regulations for entrepreneurs opting for rooftop solar plants to produce green energy, noting delays in obtaining permissions from Bescom authorities.

In response, Bescom Managing Director Mahantesh Bilagi assured that steps would be taken to address and resolve these issues.
