Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat Trains Cleared for Raxaul Route

Indian Railways is set to introduce Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains on the Raxaul–Kolkata route, enhancing travel speed and comfort between the two cities. The move positions Raxaul as a major railway hub, with multiple infrastructure upgrades already in progress.

Work has commenced on upgrading Overhead Equipment (OHE), with a tender worth Rs 6.5 million floated for the same. The project, with a six-month timeline, includes an earnest money deposit of Rs 0.13 million and will be submitted via e-tendering. A new washing pit for premium trains is being constructed at Raxaul, with a similar facility planned at Saharsa.

The train proposal was submitted by Vinay Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager, Samastipur Division, and is nearing final approval from the Railway Board.

Raxaul Junction’s transformation is also backed by significant allocations in the Union Budget 2025–26, supporting its development as a world-class station near the India–Nepal border.

The Samastipur Division recently gained prominence with the launch of Amrit Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, underlining its growing role in India’s expanding railway network.
