WeWork announces Sandeep Mathrani as its chairman


WeWork Inc announced its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandeep Mathrani as Chairman of the office-sharing company, months after Marcelo Claure left the role.

Mathrani is a real estate industry veteran who was named WeWork's chief executive in 2020 and given the task of executing a turnaround after an Initial Public Offering (IPO) attempt and investor concerns over corporate governance standards.

Claure was the former CEO of SoftBank Group Corporation also left his position at this Japanese investment giant in January.

WeWork told the media that Saurabh Jalan, partner at SoftBank Group International, a unit of SoftBank Group, has joined its board.

Jalan has been with SoftBank since 2015, oversees the conglomerate's investments in several companies, including WeWork and T-Mobile US, etc.
