Meghalaya consults stakeholders before Shree Cement project decision

The Meghalaya government will consult stakeholders before deciding on Shree Cement’s proposed project in the state. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said authorities are hearing representations from different groups amid a 15-day ultimatum from the Khasi Students Union seeking cancellation of the public hearing. The government is also awaiting an enquiry report into allegations that a road was dug up during the hearing process. Officials will consider stakeholder concerns and procedural findings before determining the project’s next steps.
