Star Cement Wins Rajasthan Limestone Block for Raw Material Boost

Star Cement Ltd, headquartered in Meghalaya, announced on 22 August that its subsidiary, Star Cement North East Ltd, has been declared the Preferred Bidder for the Parewar (SN-IV) limestone block in Rajasthan. The allocation was made by the Rajasthan government through an e-auction process.
Located in Village Joga, Tehsil Ramgarh of Jaisalmer district, the block spans 960 hectares and contains an estimated 271.38 million tonnes of limestone reserves. Star Cement stated that the acquisition will significantly enhance its long-term raw material security once regulatory clearances and agreements are in place.
The company, which recorded revenue of Rs 29.1 billion in FY24, has an installed grinding capacity of 7.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and clinker capacity of 6.1 MTPA. With a widespread network comprising nearly 2,000 dealers and over 12,500 retailers, Star Cement commands a 26.5 per cent market share in the north-eastern region. Its premium products account for approximately 10.6 per cent of total sales.
Further strengthening its footprint, the company is developing two new units in Assam, located in the Silchar and Jorhat districts. It has earmarked Rs 3.8 billion in capital expenditure for the second half of the current financial year, aimed at supporting expansion and operational growth.
