The Union Ministry of Mines has commended Chhattisgarh for its exemplary implementation of development initiatives under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). The state has channelled DMF funds towards inclusive growth in mining-affected areas, focusing on education, healthcare, drinking water, infrastructure, and livelihood enhancement.

As per an official release, development works worth over Rs 165 billion have been approved across the state, covering 101,313 projects, out of which 70,318 have already been completed.

During the National DMF Workshop held in New Delhi, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy awarded a certificate of appreciation to P. Dayanand, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary, Mineral Resources Department, for Chhattisgarh’s outstanding work.

The state received recognition for uploading over 90 per cent of its DMF audit reports and related data on both the State and National DMF Portals, managed under the Prime Minister's Mineral Area Welfare Scheme.

Chhattisgarh’s transparent and welfare-oriented model was showcased as a best practice for other states, with emphasis on data transparency and district-level implementation tailored to local community needs.

The workshop, attended by secretaries, collectors, and directors from mining-affected districts across the country, aimed to improve the effectiveness of DMF and promote sustainable, inclusive development in mineral-rich regions.
