Coal India Allocates 10.366 mn Tonnes In February SWMA Auction
The average premium achieved over the notified coal price stood at about 35 per cent for the month and the company said the figures were provisional. Several subsidiaries participated in the auctions and registered varying allocation rates and price premiums. The report indicated that offerings and allocations were recorded across eastern and central producing regions.
Eastern Coalfields Limited offered four point zero five seven mn t, Bharat Coking Coal Limited offered two point zero three four mn t, Central Coalfields Limited offered two point three three nine mn t and Northern Coalfields Limited offered zero point seven six six mn t. Western Coalfields Limited, South Eastern Coalfields Limited and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited also contributed significant volumes with varied allocation rates. Allocation outcomes differed materially by subsidiary during the month.
Northern Coalfields Limited recorded an allocation rate of 69 per cent, Western Coalfields Limited achieved 79 per cent, South Eastern Coalfields Limited allocated about 75 per cent and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited recorded about 49 per cent in February auctions. For the cumulative period from April 2025 to February 2026 the company and its subsidiaries offered 189.618 mn t, of which 88.404 mn t were allocated representing about 47 per cent. The average premium realised over notified prices in the cumulative period stood at approximately 37 per cent.
The data were disclosed in a regulatory filing made on the third of March 2026 and Coal India described the figures as provisional for SWMA e-auction performance. Market participants were advised to consult the filing for detailed breakdowns and tender terms.
