Coal India Signs MoU With Heartfulness for Sustainable Mining

 State-owned Coal India Ltd has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Heartfulness Institute to promote sustainable development and strengthen community engagement in mining areas.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines; Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines; Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Coal; Chairman Shri P.M. Prasad; and Director (Technical) Shri Achyut Ghatak.
The collaboration focuses on rejuvenating degraded ecosystems, developing eco-parks and rainforests, afforestation, and establishing biodiversity forests. It also emphasises community-driven initiatives across closed, abandoned and operational mines.
This partnership represents a significant step in Coal India Ltd’s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Alongside this, the company has accelerated rail infrastructure expansion to fast-track coal transport.
