The Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU) of the eighth Legislative Assembly, led by its chairman Jikke Tako and accompanied by Member of the Legislative Assembly Chakat Aboh and Legislative Assembly Joint Secretary K Jugli, conducted a spot visit to the Namchik-Nampuk coal field in Changlang district on 19 April as part of an inquiry into a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit paragraph relating to loss of revenue. The visit aimed to verify operations and documentation cited in the audit. The visit formed part of wider legislative oversight aimed at protecting state revenue and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Changlang Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sah, the Miao Additional Deputy Commissioner, the Kharsang Sub-Divisional Officer, the Miao Assistant Commissioner, technical officers from the Mines and Mineral Development Department and representatives of Coal Pulz Limited were present during the inspection. The committee examined mining sites and records to assess operational status and revenue-related matters.

The committee reviewed the status of mining operations and sought clarifications on issues raised in the CAG audit paragraph, and technical officers assured that a detailed reply would be submitted to the legislative assembly secretary within six months. The chairman underlined the importance of timely submission and directed that the matter be taken up for further review at a subsequent sitting. Officials were urged to strengthen documentation and compliance measures to address audit observations and reduce the risk of revenue shortfalls.

The proceedings will be recorded in committee minutes and referred to the relevant departments for action, with follow up hearings to be scheduled as required, according to the Speaker's public relations cell. The exercise reflects ongoing legislative oversight of state mining operations and the assembly's efforts to safeguard public revenue. Officials will prepare follow up reports and ensure that responses address both operational and accounting concerns.
